Computer Science, AI & Robotics: Key Stage 2
From block-based coding to real Python programming, children build, program and
problem-solve with LEGO robotics, micro:bit and AI-powered projects — all mapped to the National Curriculum.
What Your Child Will Learn
- Build and program multi-sensor robots that sense, move and respond to the world around them
- Progress confidently from block-based coding (Scratch, MakeCode) to real Python programming
- Break challenges into manageable steps, then explain — not just fix — how their code works
- Understand how computer networks and the internet connect devices, and how to search for and evaluate online information critically
- Collect, analyse and present real data using AI and data-science tools
- Use technology safely and responsibly, and know how to report a concern
Tools & Platforms
- LEGO Education Computer Science & AI Set
- mBot2 Robotics Platform
- BBC micro:bit
- Robo Wunderkind Education Kit
- Scratch & MakeCode, progressing to Python
Course Structure (3 Terms)
Years 3–5 — Block-Based Programming
Scratch & MakeCode foundations across LEGO, mBot2, micro:bit and Robo Wunderkind projects — sequence, selection, repetition and variables.
Years 5–6 — Introduction to Python
Variables and data types, input and output, conditional statements, loops, simple functions and text-based
projects; sprite-based games, animations and simulations.
National Curriculum Aligned
Fully mapped to the DfE National Curriculum in England for Computing at Key Stage 2 — including
programming, computer networks and the internet, search literacy, data handling and online safety — so
classroom learning and after-school learning reinforce each other.
