Foundations in Robotics, Coding & Creative Technology
Programme Overview
The STEAM Explorers Programme is a structured early years pathway designed for children aged 5–7 (Reception to Year 2). The programme introduces robotics, logical thinking and problem solving through hands-on learning platforms including Bee-Bot, Osmo Genius and Osmo Coding.
UK Curriculum Alignment
This programme is aligned to Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1), specifically supporting Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 learners.
Aligned with EYFS and Key Stage 1 objectives including:
- Understanding the World (Technology)
- Mathematics (Number, Patterns, Position & Direction)
- Computing (Algorithms & Debugging)
- Science (Forces & Movement)
- Design & Technology (Design, Make & Evaluate)
Term 1 – Robotics & Algorithm Foundations
Platform Focus: Bee-Bot Programmable Floor Robot

Children learn sequencing, direction commands, simple algorithms and debugging.
Sample Projects:
- Treasure map navigation
- Robot storytelling journeys
- Obstacle route challenges
Term 2 – Maths, Patterns & Creative Problem Solving
Platform Focus: Osmo Genius Starter Kit

Children develop numeracy, confidence, pattern recognition and visual problem solving.
Key Areas:
- Addition and subtraction
- Shape and spatial reasoning
- Word building and vocabulary
Term 3 – Introduction to Coding & Logical Structures
Platform Focus: Osmo Coding Starter Kit

Children build algorithms using coding blocks and explore loops and basic conditional logic.
Key Areas:
- Sequencing and debugging
- Introduction to repetition (loops)
- Structured problem solving
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme, learners will:
- Understand what an algorithm is
- Create and debug simple programmes
- Apply number knowledge in practical contexts
- Demonstrate improved spatial awareness
- Show confidence in structured problem solving
